Gainesville was founded in 1825 when Manassas gap railroad reached there. It is found in Prince William County and it is the 3rd 
largest census-designated place. In 1960s, Gainesville was the shipping point for cattle, timber and grains which contributed to its growth. Other things that have contributed to its development include groundbreaking which was there in 1994 and Gainesville interchange improvement project which was made so as to reduce growth traffic in the year 2006.
Gainesville has an approximate size of 26.6km2 of which 5.45km2 is water while the rest is 25.2km2 land. The climate is safe for any living being having January as the coldest month in the year with highs of 45 degrees and lows of 25 degrees. July is the hottest month with highs of 90 degrees and lows of 65 degrees. When you check at the seasons, you find that Gainesville has mild winters, humid and hot summers and warm springs and autumn.
Since the year 2000, there has been commercial development which has resulted to big shopping centers, stores such as DSW, Best Buy, and Target Supercenter among others. There are many known shops found in Gainesville and banks such as the bank of America, wells Fargo and many others. There are several movie theatres which are easily accessible. The development of this town has been as a result of good roads such as Lee Highway which makes it easy to connect from one place to another.
